This is a book that is inescapably tied to the COVID-19 pandemic. Critiquing the restaurant industry at the very moment it was forced to shut down, Mintz takes the opportunity to imagine a more equitable food system. With a conversational tone, he shifts between the bird's-eye view and the day-to-day minutiae of what it will take to radically reform the way we feed ourselves. It's ultimately a hopeful book, and Mintz spends a lot of time describing the mouthwatering meals that make it all worthwhile.

An essential read for millennial activists. Learning about the previous generation's victories and tactics shows that we can achieve good things, contrary to the overarching story of defeat that the left tends to tell about itself. I struggle with so much focus on process rather than outcomes, but sitting with that discomfort is a path to growth, I guess.

Sexually, politically, intellectually, artistically... he occupied these spaces with naive confidence, and if anyone else had a problem with it, well, that was their problem.
