A Paris cycling adventure

Park the bike

You make your way to the curb, dismount, pull your bike up and lock it to the bike rack. You've had enough thrills for one day.

You set out down the underground passageway that brings you to the Arc de Triomphe. When you emerge, being in the middle of this swarm of traffic gives you chills. The eye of the whirlpool.

Turning inward, you marvel at the Arc de Triomphe. It's grandiose, larger than life, and you get lost in the intricate details carved in the momument. There are throngs of people clutching camera bags and maps of Paris, taking photos and craning their necks, like you, to soak it all in.

Through the archways, you catch a glimpse of a cyclist braving the traffic of the roundabout. She pedals confidently, keeping pace with the taxis and limousines and cars around her. It almost seems like a dance.

You think to yourself, Maybe I'll try biking again tomorrow.
